Join Vicki for this 8-week evidence-based program which offers a comprehensive introduction to mindfulness meditation that is engaging, challenging, and rewarding. Possible benefits include decreased physical and psychological symptoms such as pain, anxiety and low mood, increased sense of ease and well-being, and improved ability to cope with challenges. Through guided meditation, mindful movement, personal and group reflection, and daily home practice, participants have the opportunity to fully embrace the practice of mindfulness. New and experienced meditation practitioners are welcome.

WHAT TO EXPECT

COURSE COMPONENTS

Orientation session: 1.5 hours

Practice meditation
Considerations re: when to take the course

Scheduling of individual meeting with instructor

Note: the orientation session is a prerequisite to participation in the 8 weekly sessions

Individual meeting with your instructor: 45–60 minutes
Date and time to be established via consultation with instructor

Review intake questionnaire
Identify personal goals and individual supports for practice

8 weekly sessions: 2.5 hours
Wednesdays, October 9–November 27, 1:00–3:30pm

Guided instruction in a variety of mindfulness meditation practices
Mindful movement (e.g., walking, gentle stretching)
Weekly themes
Learning through direct practice, reflection, and group dialogue
Daily home assignments and practice (approximately 45 minutes/day)
Weekly handouts and links to audio recordings for home practice
Cushioned chairs, yoga mats, and meditation benches available on site

Day-long retreat: 6 hours
Saturday November 16, 2019, 10:00am–4:00pm

Primarily silent, day-long retreat
Opportunity to deepen and solidify personal learning through extended practice
Note: Past MBSR participants are invited to join the retreat day
